2017 ISA Garba
September 30, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pmFree
Want a fun and free night of dancing and dancing and dancing? Join the Indian Student Association for our annual Garba event!
Garba is a form of dance with origins in the Indian state of Gujarat. This traditional dance is typically performed during the nine-day holiday, Navrati. Come dance with us to commemorate this important Indian season, and immerse yourself in Indian culture! No prior garba or even dancing experience is required!
Dandiyas (colorfully decorated sticks used in Dandiya Raas) will be provided but will be in limited supply – so if you have your own, please come and show ’em off!
Clothes: If you have Indian clothes, that’s perfect – wear it! But if not, that’s okay too! Just put on some nice clothes or a funny costume and get ready to dance! We want to you to be here and be dancing!
Throughout the garba event, we will also be providing henna tattoos for $2. Also, since you will enjoy yourself so much (or enjoyed yourself so much at previous ISA events), membership to ISA will be sold at the entrance for $10!
ISA membership comes with many perks such as – discounts at local Indian restaurants -Taste of India, Amrit India, and Indian Garden, advance access to ISA event tickets -Diwali, ISA Formal, and more, and A FREE T-SHIRT!
Lastly, if you bought your membership at our call-out meeting earlier this semester, you will be able to pick up your ISA t-shirts at the event!
